I had the privilege to meet Mr. Robert Goossens for a very special workshop a few weeks ago.
He explained the whole story of how his dad started the brand and he quickly joined the family business pushing the limits of creation with an unexpected mix of forms and materials, of both noble and rough materials.
Then I could choose to create my very own special piece. I carefully picked a ring setting and after a long time to decide which stone to pick (it was obviously me being in a candy store), one of the artisans assembled it in front of me to create my one and only piece.
I must confess I am not the biggest fan of cold, winter days. My Erin off duty go-to winter outfits tend to be quite casual, and my priority is always to keep warm and comfortable. However, to always stay on point I love to pull on a statement coat, and every season I love adding a couple of statement coats to the collection of my classic ones. Therefore, for me, the silver lining to the cloudy sky and low temperatures is the promise of snuggling up in one of the season’s best winter coat. I can say that in the winter I build my outfits around my coats, mainly because when it gets as cold as it is in Paris right now, the chance is that I’ll be wearing my coat almost the whole day. Therefore, it’s essential that it makes an impact on the entire look..
I’m a big fan of the month of December, I love the holiday spirit all around, and I always feel that the month passes by too fast. Therefore, I like to prolong the holiday spirit far into January. To enjoy the holiday spirit to its fullest, I spent some quality time at one of my favorite Parisian hotels, The Four Season Hotel George V.
I always love to come to The Four Seasons Hotel, even if only for an afternoon tea; the smell of the fresh flowers in the entrance lobby always makes me feel like in a small luxurious oasis in the middle of my city. No need to say I loved to shoot my holiday look in here. Their festive decoration gives you this luxurious feeling and a wish to wear the most elegant pieces of your wardrobe.
When deciding what to wear for a holiday spirit shoot sure, a little black dress or Le Smocking suit crossed my mind, but I believe that more is more for the holidays season, so why not add some extra fun to already festive vibe with some unexpected bold statement pieces.
Head-to-toe black is always a simple, go-to winter style formula, but nothing beats all-white edgy look as the temperatures begin to drop. There’s nothing as reviving as styling an outfit full of winter whites. While wearing them on a cold, grey, early winter day, you’ll instantly feel lighter and happier. You must admit that layering of winter whites from a crisp snow white to luxe cream looks so appealing and cozy. White has this luxurious, understated simplicity, so you just can’t go wrong in these monochromatic outfits.
For my head to toe Erin off duty winter white look I selected my “can’t live without” Levis vintage white jeans as the base. There really isn’t anything that doesn’t go with a great pair of white denim. I paired them up with my favorite Nanushka trenchcoat. As you’ve probably noticed before, Nanuska is the brand I’ve been lately obsessing about (fyi they just launched a pop up store at Galeries Lafayette Paris). Because of its neutral color, this trenchcoat is incredibly versatile and can be worn in any combination while still looking classy and pulled together.
London is one of the cities I love the most in fall. I lived there a few years ago and never miss an occasion to go back. I love to shoot with Morgane Lay, a talented Frenchy Londoner, full of positive energy. Mild autumn temperatures allowed me to wear this chic and flowy monochrome look by Nanushka.
A full monochrome look might seem hard to wear, but I believe that if done right, it can look very effortless and put together. As you’ve probably noticed before I’m a big fan of light shades monochrome looks, you can discover my summer version of light blue monochrome look here. I believe a full monochrome outfit makes you look like you spent hours putting your look together when it only took you some second. It is the fastest way to look polished without trying too hard. It feels equally romantic, chic and sharp.
When picking our family vacation destination this summer, we were visualizing a place that would completely make us forget about our busy daily life and would fill us up with new energy and fresh ideas for the upcoming cold days. L.A. seemed like the obvious choice.
I found this red polka dots wrap Reformation dress the perfect Erin Off Duty’s vacation companion. No buttons, no zips, no squeezing in, so easy to wear, stylish and practical for a busy day spent with kids. I love everything about it, from the cut, the color, and the silhouette.
As every true Parisienne, I’m a firm believer in beauty in simplicity. When in doubt, I love subtracting distracting elements to get down to the basics.
My rule is to focus on interesting shapes and textures while keeping it simple.
A little white dress is the perfect essential piece of Erin Off Duty’s wardrobe to wear on a hot day in the city. A solid white base leaves you with endless styling possibilities. It is one of those special pieces that go from days to nights to weekends to holidays.
When invited to the fanciest dinner party, I felt that some glitz & glamour would be appropriate for an Erin Off Duty evening.
This summer, seventies clubbing vibe and glam bling are back: nothing better than all that glow and glitter to bring up the festive shimmer, perfect to shine on summer nights.
Forget what you’ve ever been told about the evening coat. It’s now a category of your wardrobe that has segued into daylight hours.
A statement coat is a great unexpected outfit game-changer. This season dare to bring into the daylight the decadent fabrics once reserved for the evening.
Most of the time, my Erin Off Duty style gravitates toward simple and streamlined silhouettes, and I keep the color palette for the most part neutral. (I’ve been wearing jeans and shirts as a uniform).
But how can one not fall for the sweet pastels trend? Soft colors that instantly make you think of a candy shop. It’s all about sweetness; every shade makes you look and feel soft and delicate.
Once upon a time mixing sporty with smart was by far the biggest fashion ‘faux pas’ a true fashionista could do.Outfits that were once reserved for the gym have now made their way onto runways and consequently to the streets of the fashion capitals.
When you inherit some vintage treasures, do not get rid of them…E V E R.
These wardrobe golden tickets are timeless and unique and will
pass through the time like stars of your closet.
Without a doubt, jeans are the one piece of my Erin Off Duty wardrobe I rely on the most.
I can never get enough of them. There’s something effortless about them, they are extremely easy to style and super comfortable, too. That’s why every season, I continue to grow to my collection.
